From the banks of the Mahurangi River, this heavily spalted sheoak is a fusion of colour and texture. Spalting is the very first part in the process of wood's deterioration. Where moisture collides with the remaining nutrients a reaction occurs which results in dark outlines and blonded sections. This process stops when moisture is removed, leaving a dramatic reminder.
