Most of the Tasmanian blackwood I have turned is straight. This is so different; dark, tight knots and contouring grain give this piece some real character. It has remained true and not split or cracked. Maybe the knots have added to its stability? Our difficulties are working a strength in us that we do not see until the pressure is on.
